The Boer War by John Liston Byam Shaw |
|
|
|
One of Shaw's best paintings, and rather untypical of his output.
A lone woman stands by the side of a gently flowing river, lost
in thought. She is, perhaps, thinking about her husband away at
the war in South Africa, but this is left to the imagination of
the viewer. The painting of the trees, grass, wildflowers, and vegetation
is highly detailed, and to the highest standards of Pre-Raphaelite
fidelity to nature. Buy this poster from AllPosters.com |
