A truly remarkable city that must be visited:

A trip into the heart of the Emerald Island

If you set your mind on seeing as much of the beautiful land there is to see in the United Kingdom then an adventure of crossing the North Channel on one of the sunny days to see a bit of Northern Ireland would be a really great idea. It had always been something of a wayward child in the UK which only makes its traditions, lore and art more interesting for a curious researcher.

Any guide or a guide book on Northern Ireland will gladly remind you that the capital of this part of the emerald Erin (the ancient name of the whole Irish Island) is Belfast. A good idea would be to start right here to make some sights. Despite the mass destructions caused by the armed conflicts during the time of "Troubles" there are still lot of old Victorian architecture pieces mixed with the modern style buildings to see and admire.

One of the most prominent buildings in Belfast is the City Hall - this large domed administrative building inspired many UK architects who worked in the Victorian times in India and raised similar magnificent constructions.

Grand Opera House, on the contrary was subject to the cross-influence of the mysterious East. Restored after the "Troubles" bombing to the full glorious looks of the 1895 when it was originally finished it never fails to act as one of the most popular tourist attractions in Belfast.

If you want to see the quaint beauty of the Irish Victorian architecture of the days gone by then you should definitely pay a visit to the Cathedral Quarter which boasts the largest number of such constructions that survived to this day. The Great Victoria Street (the name speaks for itself!) will please your eyes as well as throats and bellies because this is the place where you can find the famous oldest best bars and pubs in Belfast. The Crown Liquor Saloon will hardly let you resist the overall vibe of the place for more than a couple of minutes. This gin palace is not only beautiful on the outside, but is also a real alcohol heaven for anyone partial to spirits. So what are you waiting for - pack up and rush in!
