Cromwell on his Farm by Ford Madox Brown |
|
|
| Brown, though older, was a follower of the PRB. He was also an admirer of Oliver Cromwell, and was able to overlook his cruelty, and brutality, and admire his political and religious radicalism. This painting dates from 1873-4, and has the detail, niave perspective, and bright colours so typical of the PRB. |
