Travelling Companions by Augustus Leopold Egg |
|
|
| This painting was executed when the Egg was travelling abroad for his health, just before his premature death. Two identically dressed sisters are in a railway compartment, with a view of Mentone through the window. Highly finished, beautifully done, and one of the greatest early railway paintings. |
