Tourist Attractions

When deciding to take a holiday out of our comfort zone or in another part of the world the main reasons are usually for tourist attractions and sometimes the beaches and weather. Phuket has some great tourist attractions which is why the majority of income come from tourists.

The Two Heroines Monument – The monument is situated in AmphoeThalang and it has quite the history behind it. It is a memorial statue for the rallied islanders from 1785. Thao Thep Kasattri and Thao Sri Sunton repelled the Burmese Invaders after the governor of the island died.

  • Thalang National Museum – the museum established in 1985 houses remains found along the coast, material which were used in the war they had with Burma, ancient artefacts and of course an exhibition of what the life in old Phuket was like.

  • Hat Patong - 15 kilometres from Phuket Town is the most developed beach in Phuket. It is 1.9 miles long and most of the activities in Patong are centred on Patong Beach.

  • Hat Karon – about 12 miles from town you will find the second largest beach in Phuket.

  • Kamala Beach – during the high seasons this beach is a tourist beach, but during the low season you will experience a Muslim Village. On Wednesday and Friday Nights you can visit the market. On Saturdays there are also weekly markets.

  • View Point – to view Ko Pu, Kata Noi, Karon and Kata you can go to View Point. The point is situated halfway between Kata Beach and Nai Harn Beach.

  • Laem Phromthep – at the south end of Phuket is Laem Phromthep. This easily recognised landmark was used mostly for the travelling seafarers and was often known as God’s Cape.

  • Wat Chalong – the statue of Luang Pho Cham is in Wat Chaong. In 1876 Luang Pho Cham assisted the people to bring down the Chinese Coolie Rebellion. Luang Pho Chaung can also be found at the temple.

  • The Big Buddha of Phuket – on a mountain peak close to the Phuket town is the 45m in height image which is also covered in a White Burmese Marble.
